Shanay Timpishka ~ Amazon's Boiling River♨

We all know the fact that Amazon forest is the world's largest biodiversity being habitat for millions of rare species. There exist some mysterious things which we can't even imagine. On that list here we know about the Mysterious Boiling River exist deep inside at the centre of the forest.

People lived in peru, amazon were well-known about the boiling river, but it would be a myth for so many years until the geoscientist Andres Ruzo proved it real.

At his young age, Ruzo heared a story about the boiling river from his grandfather lived in peru. Shamans(people lived inside the Amazon rainforest) were protected the river and its ecosystem. This story made ruzo more curious to see the boiling river. After completion of his Phd, ruzo started his study about the mysterious river in amazon.

At first ruzo got denied by his idea of research. Later he and his crew went down into the forest after getting allowed by peruvian people, he found his way to the boiling river with the help of local guide.

The adventurous journey begins in Pachitea river, tributory of Amazon over 300m wide, from this river its about 30 mins travel to the mouth of the boiling river(Olive-green plume colour).

After reaching the confluence of the two rivers, the guide asked ruzo and his crew to touch the water, it is not so hot. At the mouth of the boiling river suddenly temperature of the water rises high upto 200° fahrenhit. There Ruzo for the first time believed that the myth is real. Before exploring about the boiling river he spends over a year to the complete study.

Reason for Boiling

As a geoscientist, Ruzo explained the reason for boiling during his TED talk. Not the entire water in the river is extremely hot, specific area is cold. About 9km of river area 6.24km on the lower part of the river is hot. It is harmful to the small species that fell into the river was unable to withstand with its temperature and leads to death.

Ruzo explained that, the reason for the boiling is because of the fault-fed hot springs, occurs naturally deep down in the center of the earth surface, also he reported that, it is not formed by any volcanic activity because this river located so far from the volcanic area. He stepped into the preventive activities for the protection of the river.

Tourism has been conducted to see the river with proper safety measures. It is advised that not get too close to the river. During dry season water boils even high. During night time it becomes cool. Shamans believed that the water in the river has spiritual powers and they used the river water for the preparation of tea.
